About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is part of the Nursing Float Pool and operates on a casual basis. The role involves collaborating with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans aimed at returning patients to optimal health. Responsibilities include providing direct bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff such as Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, and others. The nurse is accountable for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan and ensuring patient needs are met throughout their stay and upon discharge or transfer.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• ACLS within one year of transfer
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health.
• Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders.
• Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions.
• Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.
• Integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
