Registered Nurse- Emergency Department (24 Hours, 7p-7a)
About The Position
Boston Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse to provide patient-centered, evidence-based care in its Emergency Department. The department serves more than 65,000 patients annually and is the region’s only designated Level III Trauma Center, delivering specialized emergency care for trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatric, and behavioral health needs. Nurses use advanced technology, including EMS integration through Twiage, to support rapid treatment, stabilization, and coordination of continued care. The RN works within a supportive nursing organization and contributes to high-quality, equitable care for patients and their families. The role is scheduled for 24 hours, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with rotating weekends.
Requirements
- Nursing degree required: diploma, ASN, or BSN; BSN preferred.
- Ability to obtain a BSN within four years is required.
- Active Massachusetts RN license required.
- BLS certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Prior emergency department experience preferred.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- PALS certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
- Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records.
- Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
- Assist the leadership team with quality improvement projects as needed.
