Requirements
- Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
- If possessing an active temporary practice permit, must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one (1) year
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
Nice To Haves
- Eligible to apply if within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing
- Possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license at the time of appointment
Responsibilities
- Implement nursing care plans, check vital signs, administer medications, perform treatments, and provide education to support inmate health
- Assist physicians with examinations and clinics, administer tests and immunizations, and provide counseling and health guidance
- Perform assessments, deliver emergency care such as first aid, CPR, or AED, and coordinate referrals as needed
- Record and retrieve information in the electronic health record, prepare reports, and maintain required documentation
- Sterilize instruments, inventory supplies, and ensure adequate stock in all treatment areas
