About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, Virginia, is hiring a Full-Time Day Shift (Registered Nurse) to join our Resource Pool. This role will support Med/Surg Units and other inpatient units as needed. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Sentara Leigh Hospital is a 274-bed acute care facility with a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital, recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence. It specializes in orthopedic and spine care, heart, vascular, maternity care, and general surgery, and is home to the region’s only 24-hour hyperbaric oxygen program.

Requirements

  • 18 months of RN nursing experience required
  • Competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process
  • Adherence to standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation
  • Adherence to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health
  • Possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas
