About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs, and works within Mayo Clinic's Nursing Professional Practice Model to plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. Practice is guided by the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. The RN provides leadership through precepting, formal and informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts; delegates care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources; and may participate in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of their role. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship.

Requirements

• Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
• Entry-level associate degree registered nurses whose RN start date is April 1, 2020 or later must provide documented evidence of completing an accredited baccalaureate nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.
• PACU, ICU, or ED experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in the work setting.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.
• Current RN license meeting applicable state requirements.
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) competencies through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Additional state licensure and/or specialty certification or training as required by the work area.

• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems.
