•Onsite

About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Neurosurgery Operating Room circulates and coordinates the surgical team and OR activities to provide optimum perioperative nursing care. The RN may be asked to scrub as needed and functions as the patient's advocate. The Jacksonville hospital has 34 operating rooms, including an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite, and uses modern equipment and advanced technologies. The RN coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. Within Mayo's Nursing Care Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of nursing care for assigned patients; supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care; and provides leadership through precepting, other leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates care in consideration of staff skill and experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources. The role also calls for strong communication, mentoring, and teaching, and may involve committee or project participation. The role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification. Applicants without OR experience may consider the Periop 101 program; the next cohort date is TBD and may be in early or mid-2027.
