About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The position is at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina, and reports to the Director of ICU Department. The RN supports patients’ physical and emotional well-being and contributes to the hospital’s mission of making communities healthier. The role involves occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex. It requires frequent standing, walking, lifting or moving patients, and repetitive hand and arm movements, as well as regular and reliable attendance. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact license.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
One year of RN hospital experience.

Nice To Haves

PALS, ACLS, and Handle with Care; these certifications are required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

Perform plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
Document patient care and monitor patient condition, communicating with the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Coordinate patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
Provide patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
