About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the nurse coordinates care and communicates and collaborates extensively with team members, patients, and patients’ families or significant others while maintaining high standards of professional ethics. This is a part-time, on-site role at Virtua’s Marlton location, working a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. day shift. The position is scheduled for 24 hours per week.

Requirements

Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license, which must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board requirements.
Maintain and develop nursing skills through ongoing education and staying current with nursing practice.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and treatment regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Apply standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
