About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 3, a Medical/Surgical Unit. This is a full-time day shift position (12 hour) in Charlottesville, VA. Cornell 3 is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit focused on gastrointestinal care, addressing conditions like gallbladder diseases, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and procedures such as colon resections and ostomy creation. The unit also cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 for personalized care. It is an ideal environment for both experienced nurses and new graduates seeking skill development. Cornell 3 promotes a collaborative atmosphere with a multidisciplinary team and supports professional growth, blending the resources of a major medical center with a community hospital's warmth, aiming to make a meaningful difference in patient lives. The unit is led by an award-winning Clinical Nurse Manager. Sentara Martha Jefferson has a low RN Turnover rate and high Patient Satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Education Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
  • 1 year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients on the Cornell 3 Medical/Surgical Unit.
  • Care for patients with gastrointestinal conditions, sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications.
