Requirements

• Registered Nurse, currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Graduate of a BSc in Nursing or education and experience that allows the RN to practice at full scope
• Current BLS Certification
• Proven assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills related to acute medical nursing with the ability to work independently, utilizing critical thinking skillset
• Basic computer skills (Outlook email, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record)
• Capability to administer medication inclusive of IV medication administration, with a physician’s order
• Ability to assess, adapt and respond within a constantly changing environment
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
• Excellent attendance record in alignment with STEGH’s attendance policy
• Acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH’s mission, vision, values and code of conduct

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year of Continuing Care experience within the last three (3) years
• Continuing education in geriatric nursing
• Certificates in: Palliative Care Fundamentals (Level 1), Gentle Persuasive Approaches, Crisis Intervention

Responsibilities

• Establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through application of specialized knowledge, skill and judgement, both in assessing health needs and in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
