About The Position

UP Health System - Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Behavioral Health Unit. The nurse provides compassionate, patient-centered care and contributes to the well-being of patients and the communities served. The 34-bed unit is currently staffed for 21 patients, with plans to grow as census needs change. Nurses can build behavioral health clinical expertise and support patients as they progress and stabilize in a collaborative team environment committed to safety for patients and staff.

This position is full-time at 0.8 FTE, or 64 hours per pay period. The schedule consists of eight 8-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available to qualified applicants.

Requirements

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP).
• Handle with Care-Advanced (ACLS) within 90 days.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluate patient and/or family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
