About The Position

Good Samaritan University Hospital, a 537-bed teaching hospital and member of Catholic Health, is hiring a Registered Nurse for the delivery room. The hospital serves patients across Long Island's south shore and emphasizes evidence-based practice, continual learning, and quality care. The Delivery Room RN assesses, prioritizes, continuously monitors, tests, and manages care for patients in labor, including patients with high-risk pregnancies. The RN works with an interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction, and advocates for patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, coaching, emotional support, and education. The role participates in an on-call rotation and requires reporting to work when called in.

Requirements

Passion for Mother/Baby Nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree; applicants with an associate degree may be considered if enrolled in an accredited BSN program.
New York Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
One or more years of Registered Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery is preferred.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of Registered Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery.
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Responsibilities

Assess, prioritize, continuously monitor, test, and manage overall care for patients in labor, including those with high-risk pregnancies.
Partner with an interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, midwives, registered nurses, and ancillary staff, to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Advocate for patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, coaching, emotional support, and education.
Participate in the on-call rotation and report to work if called in.
