About The Position
St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide care for its Psychiatric patient population. The hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital and a member of Catholic Health, serving the Smithtown area of Long Island. Its Department of Psychiatry provides holistic, patient-centered care and advocacy for adults aged 18 and older with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, including schizophrenia and bipolar and depressive disorders. Nurses collaborate with physicians and support staff to provide compassionate, evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of registered nurse experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, or mental health.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- New York Registered Nurse license and registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor psychiatric patients, administer medication, document progress, and manage their overall care.
- Partner with an interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, registered nurses, and ancillary staff, to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Advocate for patients and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.
