Registered Nurse (RN) 13 week Temporary Assignment-Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) Days
About The Position
This is a 13-week temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) working day shifts. The RN works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The role may involve various settings within the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex at Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop patient care plans, considering physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The position also involves supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations within Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments is required. The RN works under the direction of leadership and a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive clinical care in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards of excellence, goals, and strategic plans.
Requirements
- 2 years RN experience for Temp roles
- Current knowledge of clinical practices and related information systems and computer applications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed compact state Upon Hire
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire

Responsibilities
- Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice related to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments.
- Partner with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes.
- Assess and incorporate evidence-based standards of practice.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
- Facilitate safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure consistent, competent, and ethical care.
- Focus on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer needs, including current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
- Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education methods for patient/family comprehension.
- Individualize and coordinate patient education, including discharge-specific education with family/caregivers, and evaluate for patient comprehension.
- Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
- Evaluate own needs for support and utilize identified systems to meet those needs.
