Registered Nurse - Surgical Oncology Per-Diem
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect total nursing care to assigned patients and supervises assigned personnel. The role requires knowledge of relevant department and hospital policies and procedures for delivering nursing care, along with interpretive, communication, consultative, management, and supervisory skills. The nurse must be able to retrieve and present information in written, auditory, or visual forms; spoken communication is the primary means of exchanging ideas. Written and telephone communication skills and manual dexterity are also required. This is a per-diem Surgical Oncology nursing position. Compensation is determined using factors including qualifications, training and experience, skill level, applicable shift differentials, internal equity, and market conditions.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Nursing.
- At least one year of nursing or patient-care experience in an acute care setting.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure from the Virginia Department of Health Professions or compact-state nursing licensure.
- BLS certification; current ACLS or PALS certification may satisfy the BLS requirement under policy.
- Written and telephone communication skills and manual dexterity.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- For nurses new to the practice area or new graduates assigned to designated units, completion of applicable specialty certifications within one year. Requirements listed include ACLS, PALS, NRP, and de-escalation training depending on unit.
