About The Position

The Veterans Affairs nursing team provides high-quality care to Veterans, with a focus on overall health and wellness. Nurses work 12-hour shifts and have set, block schedules. The position offers a staff-to-member ratio that supports one-on-one direct care. The starting wage is $40.389–$52.895 per hour, consisting of a base rate of $37.389–$49.895 per hour, a $3.00 per hour differential, and $1.50–$2.50 shift differentials. Pay may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.

Requirements

Hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse in Nebraska, or have authority to practice as a registered nurse in Nebraska under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Pass background checks and complete pre-employment drug screening.
Have knowledge of nursing theory and practice, accepted standards of care, policies and procedures governing nursing care, sanitation and infection-control standards and procedures, and techniques for providing quality nursing care.
Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally push or pull up to 50 pounds daily.
Be able to frequently bend at the waist and neck, frequently twist at the waist, and walk or stand for up to 50% of the shift.

Responsibilities

Coordinate client care services, including comprehensive admission assessments and care plans.
Provide nursing care and ongoing assessment.
Provide direction and nursing leadership to carry out care plans and unit care-team activities.
Act as a client advocate and lead quality improvement, safety, and infection-control efforts.
