About The Position

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is one of Canada’s largest community-based teaching hospitals, serving the growing and diverse populations of Mississauga, West Toronto, and surrounding communities. Insight Health Solutions, fully part of THP, is a provider of private pay and third-party funded services including assessment, rehabilitation and disability management services. Insight Health Solutions has grown significantly over 25 years to be a leading provider of hospital-based third-party clinical services across Ontario. One of their latest projects is the launch of Infusion Clinic – a first for Insight Health Solutions! The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care to patients receiving infusion therapies in an outpatient clinic setting, such as IV medications like iron infusions. They will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans of care. The role is responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of nursing care for patients within a "care partnership model" culture. This includes providing nursing care, teaching, and coaching to clients and their families, adhering to the standards of nursing practice and THP Best Practice Protocols. The nurse will perform patient assessments, initiate and monitor intravenous infusions, observe patients pre-, during, and post-infusion, identify and respond to adverse reactions or complications, and deliver education and support to patients and families.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing
  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
  • Current ACLS
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and experience with venipuncture, IV therapy, routine infection prevention and control practices, and recognition of adverse reactions
  • Demonstrates technical ability
  • Demonstrates excellence in communication skills and teamwork
  • Demonstrates strong attention to patient and family-centred care and establishing therapeutic relationships
  • A positive work and attendance record is essential

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with intravenous therapy, including IV initiation, medication administration, and patient monitoring, minimum 3 years experience preferred
  • Experience with infusion therapies (e.g., iron infusions, biologics, or other IV medications) is considered an asset
  • Previous experience in patient education programs
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients receiving infusion therapies in an outpatient clinic setting (e.g., IV medications such as iron infusions)
