About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients on the Adult Psychiatric Unit at Samaritan Hospital. The RN assesses patients’ needs, plans care addressing spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs, and ensures the plan is carried out and evaluated. Care is tailored to patients’ age, growth, and development according to the unit’s scope of services. When serving as charge nurse, the RN also performs clinical and leadership functions. The RN is accountable to the Nurse Manager for the quality of patient care delivered.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
• Ability to assess, plan, direct, intervene in, and evaluate patient care.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• One year of RN experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of each assigned patient.
• Plan nursing care to address patients’ spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs.
• Carry out and evaluate the plan of care, either through direct performance or leadership of supervised personnel.
• Modify and deliver care appropriate to patients’ age, growth, and development and consistent with the unit’s scope of services.
• When serving in the charge role, perform clinical and leadership functions, assess patient needs, and plan nursing care.
• Deliver care by assessing, planning, and meeting the needs of patients in the unit.
