About The Position

The Registered Nurse will work in the Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit, a 14–18 bed unit treating patients whose psychiatric symptoms may be related to Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, neurodegenerative disorders, or head trauma. The RN provides professional psychiatric nursing services and patient care in accordance with team treatment plans, collaborates with the treatment team, and supports patients and their families.

Requirements

• Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Maryland or a compact state at the time of appointment and continuously while in the position.
• AHA CPR certification before the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting.
• Geriatric and/or Med-Surg experience, preferably at least one year.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, administer, and evaluate patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
• Administer medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
• Teach patients and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
• Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
• Document and report patient progress to the treatment team.
