About The Position

The Pre-Op/PACU RN provides skilled, compassionate care to patients before and after surgical, procedural (including interventional radiology and bronchoscopy), and interventional cardiology cases. The role involves comprehensive assessments, close monitoring, and specialized care for patients undergoing surgery or cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures. The nurse safely administers medications, infusions, and blood products in accordance with provider orders and safety protocols, and serves as a liaison among surgeons, interventionalists, anesthesiologists, patients, and families to support safety from admission through discharge. The position includes on-call rotations and weekend and/or holiday scheduling based on facility needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply. The weekly schedule is four 10-hour shifts.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active, unencumbered RN license.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.
• Strong critical-thinking skills.
• Advanced EKG interpretation skills.
• Airway management skills.
• Knowledge of blood product safety protocols.
• Competency with vascular closure devices.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of acute care experience in ICU, ED, PACU, or a Cardiovascular ICU/Telemetry unit; preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing surgery, procedures, and interventional cardiology cases.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and closely monitor patients undergoing surgical or cardiac/vascular catheterization procedures.
• Safely administer medications, infusions, and blood products in accordance with provider orders and safety protocols.
• Coordinate communication among surgeons, interventionalists, anesthesiologists, patients, and families to support patient safety from admission through discharge.
• Participate in on-call rotations and weekend and/or holiday scheduling as facility needs require.
