About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our regional crisis stabilization program at The BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, in Hampton, VA. This full-time overnight position offers the opportunity to provide essential care to individuals facing acute mental health and co-occurring substance use challenges in a supportive, team-based setting. In this role, you'll contribute to a purpose-driven organization focused on delivering compassionate, high-quality behavioral health services. Unlike traditional emergency rooms, the facility emphasizes a peaceful and therapeutic atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a behavioral health or psychiatric setting
  • Ability to enroll as a QMHP-A Trainee within 30 days of employment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Experience with crisis response and psychiatric nursing

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to adults in acute behavioral health crisis.
  • Partner closely with the psychiatrist and interdisciplinary team to manage medications, monitor patient status, and support stabilization efforts.
  • Complete comprehensive health assessments.
  • Implement and update individualized care plans.
  • Ensure safe and accurate medication administration.
  • Coordinate medical services such as referrals and follow-up care.
  • Respond to urgent situations.
  • Offer crisis intervention and emotional support to both clients and their families.
