The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide safe and effective patient care. This role involves administering medications, clarifying physician instructions, and explaining procedures to patients and their companions. The nurse must demonstrate competence in designated skills for Pre-Op & PACU patient care, including handling emergencies and providing age-specific care. Maintaining clinical expertise through continuing education is essential. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and job assignments to meet patient needs, with the ability to work in multiple perioperative areas. Fostering a positive and professional hospital environment through courteous interactions and teamwork is expected. Participation in committees, work groups, and meetings, along with collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and shared governance, is also part of the role. The nurse will complete required competencies, obtain necessary studies, and utilize performance improvement models. Any other assigned duties are also part of the responsibilities.
