The Registered Nurse works in the Behavioral Health Unit at Samaritan Hospital, caring for patients experiencing severe psychiatric crises who need inpatient safety, care, and treatment to stabilize their immediate crisis. Care is individualized, with an emphasis on maintaining safety, medication stabilization, and developing coping skills. The RN supports a main unit and is cross-trained in all four Behavioral Health units: Adult Psych, Senior/Geriatric Psych, MICA, and Crisis ER. These units serve patients across adolescence through geriatrics and address psychiatric and substance-use needs, with medical care and discharge planning tailored to the patient. The RN assesses each patient's needs, plans and delivers nursing care, evaluates and modifies care as appropriate, and may perform clinical and leadership functions when serving in the charge role. The RN is directly accountable to the Nurse Manager for the quality of patient care delivered.
