About The Position

PersonalCare Registered Professional Nursing P.C. is seeking enthusiastic and hard-working Registered Nurses (RN) for a Full-Time position in the Medical Department at the Columbia County Jail in Hudson, NY. The RN will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating nursing care in accordance with the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives. This role involves assessing and providing comprehensive treatment care while adhering to security requirements. The position includes a 2-week orientation period with on-the-job training and shadowing.

Requirements

Ability to multi-task.
Good grasp of patient assessment skills.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York.
Clinical decision-making ability is required and critical.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to function independently and demonstrating clinical competency.
Ability to gain trust of patients and build a working relationship.

Experience in health care delivery system is a plus.

Responsibilities

Ensuring nursing practice complies with established nursing standards.
Assessing and providing comprehensive treatment care while observing and maintaining security requirements.
Monitoring treatment services to avoid inappropriate use and/or duplication of services.
Advising Health Services Administrator and Nurse Supervisor of any issues with treatment services.
Monitoring and recommending methods to improve operational efficiency and cost containment.
Assisting Health Services Administrator or Nurse Supervisor in coordinating and/or conducting monthly health care staff meetings.
Providing other services and performing other duties as assigned by Nurse Supervisor, Health Services Administrator, head nurse, or corporate staff.
Maintaining accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Providing health counseling to patients.
Conducting sick call for inmate/patients and provide provisional diagnosis and treatment for selected minor illnesses and injuries defined by written protocol and approved by the Director.
Observing, reporting, and documenting symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmate/patients.
Participating in the formulation of the plan of nursing care.
Implementing treatment care plans that promote, maintain, and restore the well-being of inmate/patients.
At a minimum of every shift, taking vital signs, doing a complete assessment, and documenting findings on dispensary care of all inmates/patients housed in the medical unit and/or mental health unit.
