About The Position

The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is a leading provider of behavioral health services in the Philadelphia region. Our Older Adult Program serves individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) who require long term, structured care in a supportive clinical environment. We provide a safe, stigma free setting that addresses both behavioral health and nursing needs through a compassionate, multidisciplinary approach. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Behavioral Medicine team on a Per Diem basis. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement psychiatric and behavioral nursing care for individuals in a structured, therapeutic environment. You will work closely with clinical leadership and a multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality, person centered care. All new hires must be able to attend a mandatory 5-day orientation Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM before starting their schedule. Attendance is required for employment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Current Pennsylvania RN license and CPR certification required
  • 3 to 5 years of behavioral health nursing experience required
  • Experience in psychiatric or substance use settings preferred
  • Bilingual English and Spanish a plus
  • Must meet requirements under Pennsylvania Older Adults Protective Services Act (Act 169)
  • Successful completion of orientation and required certifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive behavioral health nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and regulations
  • Conduct psychiatric and health assessments, screenings, and crisis interventions
  • Implement and evaluate individualized care plans based on nursing assessments
  • Supervise Behavioral Health Technicians and provide guidance in daily care delivery
  • Support group and individual therapeutic interventions
  • Document observations, assessments, and interventions accurately in the Electronic Health Record
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient care and outcomes
  • Participate in performance improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Maintain infection control standards and proper handling of biohazards
  • Serve as charge nurse when designated
