About The Position
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2, a Neuro Oncology unit. This is a full-time Night Shift position in Charlottesville, VA, with hours from 7 PM to 7 AM. Cornell 2 is a Medical/Surgical Unit specializing in Neuro Oncology, urology, vascular, and chest tube care. The unit offers a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5/1:6, comprehensive orientation, and ongoing professional development. The team is led by a clinical manager who is a recipient of the 2025 Clinical President's Award. Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital has a low RN Turnover rate of under 12.6% and high patient satisfaction scores. The hospital is a Magnet status, 176-bed facility with all patient-friendly private rooms, offering specialized care in Cancer Care, Heart and Vascular, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Maternity. Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required (for experience)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
- 1 year of acute care (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Apply the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
- Apply the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
- Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
