Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program.
  • For entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after: documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
  • For entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020: documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work daytime hours, with flexibility to meet staffing needs.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (unless determined otherwise by work area for non-campus positions).
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting.
  • One year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Support of professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care.
  • Functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Providing leadership through preceptor roles, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegating patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources.
  • Possessing excellent communication skills, mentoring, and teaching abilities.
  • Potential participation in committees or projects.
  • Possible requirement to drive a personal vehicle as part of role responsibilities.
  • Meeting state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification requirements for TN sponsorship.
