About The Position

InterHealth Medical Staffing Solutions, a staffing division of Tampa General Hospital, is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in the Emergency Room. Tampa General Hospital is a large medical facility serving a significant portion of Florida and is affiliated with USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. This role offers higher base pay and benefits for purchase, with opportunities for contract extensions or conversion to full-time/part-time employment. The position requires working independently with a Magnet-designated nursing team and adhering to established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines to deliver nursing care. Responsibilities include assessing patients, planning and implementing care, documenting assessments and interventions, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The role emphasizes patient rights, quality improvement, and providing age-specific and population-specific care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the specific division being hired into.
  • Deemed competent to work independently.
  • Associate's Degree of Nursing Minimum
  • FL RN license
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification required
  • NIHSS certification required

Responsibilities

  • Delivers nursing care to patients under general supervision, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines.
  • Plans and implements nursing care, documents nursing assessments, and identifies/reports situations requiring further intervention.
  • Formulates and communicates a goal-directed plan of care, assuring patient rights.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital and principles of quality improvement.
  • Assesses and analyzes the health status of patients in the assigned nursing unit comprehensively.
  • Performs and/or assures completed assessments on all patients admitted within the designated time delineated in policy/unit standards.
  • Performs on-going assessments and documents according to policy and procedure, reporting significant findings to the appropriate member of the health care team.
  • Initiates the discharge planning process with the initial admission assessment.
  • Formulates an individualized patient plan of care based on assessment data within the designated time delineated in policy/unit standards.
  • Communicates the plan of care to other members of the healthcare team through daily worksheet conferences, verbally during the shift, and shift report.
  • Communicates and documents all patient care given, including assessments, plan of care, interventions, patient response, and follow-up.
  • Transcribes and directs the implementation of physician orders.
  • Conducts ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and documents the effectiveness of planned and implemented interventions and strategies in relation to the plan of care within time frames per policy/unit standards.
  • Includes patient and family in the evaluation process.
  • Provides appropriate patient assessment and care specific to the needs of the patient populations served (e.g., age groups, patients of size; diagnosis-based).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of the specific physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients as appropriate to the populations served.
  • Evaluates patient progress and adjusts care plans based on patient responses, contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Documents patient care accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
