Registered Nurse Emergency Department (Weekend Nights only)
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region. Qualified candidates may be eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Emergency Department nurses care for patients in one of the region’s most advanced and fast-paced clinical environments. Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma. As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment. Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
- RNs who thrive in a fast-paced setting, communicate effectively, demonstrate strong critical thinking, and are committed to delivering safe, patient-centered emergency care.
Nice To Haves
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
- NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred
- Prior RN experience preferred
- Emergency Department experience preferred
- Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
- Motivated nurses who are ready to grow in emergency nursing are encouraged to apply.
