About The Position

Exciting opportunities await RN's looking to work in a fast-paced pediatric unit caring for surgical and medical patients with cardiac disease. The Pediatric Cardiac Care Center provides state of the art nursing care to children and young adults with congenital heart defects undergoing cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology patients with known or newly diagnosed cardiac disease. This specialized unit delivers comprehensive care through a multidisciplinary approach from admission through discharge. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong critical thinking and communications skills, and be able to manage highly acute, complex patients in a rapidly changing environment.

Requirements

  • Requires a Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Active New York State RN license in good standing.
  • Less than 6-12 months of RN experience (Level I).
  • A minimum of 6-12 months of RN experience (Level II).
  • Strong critical thinking and communications skills.
  • Ability to manage highly acute, complex patients in a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience.
  • Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, continues to build competency in the provision of direct patient care.
  • Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
  • Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Assumes the charge nurse role (Level II).
  • Actively participates in unit/service activities (Level II).
  • Supports co-workers (Level II).
  • Assesses unit needs (Level II).
