About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the ICU manages care for highly vulnerable patients by implementing complex care plans and monitoring physiological changes so that urgent interventions can be provided. The nurse serves as a primary patient advocate and coordinates the multidisciplinary care team, including intensivists, specialists, and therapists. The role also involves carrying out physician orders and advanced nursing protocols safely in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, and supporting families through clear communication and emotional guidance.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse credential from the Indiana Board of Nursing, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of the hire or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Life Support certification; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.

Responsibilities

• Implement complex care plans for critically ill patients and maintain vigilance over physiological changes to enable immediate interventions.
• Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary care team, including intensivists, specialists, and therapists.
• Serve as the primary advocate for patients.
• Execute physician orders and advanced nursing protocols precisely and safely.
• Communicate with and provide emotional guidance to patients’ families during critical care and recovery.
