About The Position

The Church Office Building Health Unit is seeking an experienced registered nurse to fill a PRN position on our nursing team. The role of nurses in the health unit is focused on accurate assessment skills, providing excellent nursing care, and educating patients on health promotion and illness prevention. The perfect candidate for this position can competently perform the job responsibilities, desires to share their nursing expertise, and has a flexible schedule. Regular health unit hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. The PRN position includes working during business hours to cover time off requests and requires availability on short notice to cover sick calls from full-time nursing staff.

Requirements

  • RN license in good standing with the State of Utah
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with bachelor’s degree (BSN)
  • 4-7 years current experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Active BLS or ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Experience in patient assessment and collecting phlebotomy samples
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing best practices
  • Superb analytical, critical thinking & problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Additional course work and/or experience in urgent care, immunizations, or travel health nursing is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Ensures client health information is kept secure, confidential, and maintained consistent with health unit policies and HIPAA standards.
  • Performs clinical nursing skills, including but not limited to venipuncture, immunizations, and POC testing.
  • Provides travel health consultation for international travelers by assessing country-specific health requirements. Develops and implements individualized travel care plans and educates clients on country-specific disease prevention and general safe travel health practices.
  • Administration of immunizations performed with patient safety in mind and using correct aseptic technique. Makes specific nursing judgments using standing orders, immunization guidelines, and the Center for Disease Control as resources. Counsels with clients about vaccine reactions and effectiveness; assesses for immediate reactions to vaccines.
  • Prepares for and responds to medical emergencies in the health unit by providing first aid care. Has competency in response to anaphylactic shock.
  • Performs other duties as directed, within the scope of professional practice.
