About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for supervising and providing direct nursing care during the assigned NOC shift, ensuring the highest degree of quality care and supporting safe, effective overnight operations of the nursing department. This role involves administrative and leadership functions, personnel supervision, direct nursing care, and ensuring safety and infection control standards are met within a skilled nursing facility setting.

Requirements

  • Current, active, unencumbered California RN license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
  • Knowledge and experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to respond to emergencies, including resident evacuation if necessary
  • Ability to cope with physical, mental, and emotional demands of the role

Nice To Haves

  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide direct nursing care during the assigned NOC shift.
  • Ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained.
  • Support safe, effective overnight operations of the nursing department.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) and/or ADON with oversight of nursing services during the NOC shift.
  • Ensure nursing staff comply with facility policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and facility surveys.
  • Complete required documentation, reports, and incident/accident reports.
  • Protect resident confidentiality and report any unauthorized access to information systems.
  • Ensure adequate RN/LVN and CNA staffing levels throughout the shift.
  • Supervise, support, and delegate duties to nursing staff.
  • Conduct rounds to ensure quality care and compliance with nursing standards.
  • Promote a calm, respectful, and resident-centered environment.
  • Provide direct nursing care, including medication administration and treatments.
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and notify physicians and families as needed.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Review nursing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure infection control, safety, and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Assist with care planning, MDS coordination, and discharge planning.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards.
  • Monitor use and maintenance of nursing equipment and supplies.
  • Report hazardous conditions, equipment issues, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with the overall supervision and management of nursing staff during the assigned shift.
  • Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability for assigned duties.
