About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role is in the 5 East Oncology department at UAB St. Vincent’s East, with a PRN schedule of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The nurse implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient condition, coordinates care among disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and helps coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Alabama Board of Nursing Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential obtained before hire or job transfer.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and required professional licensure at the time of hire.
• One year of RN experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator among disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
