About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse to join our Ortho Trauma Progressive Care Unit (5 South). This is a 35-bed monitored nursing unit that provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients ranging from adults to Geriatrics. The conditions that are within the scope of service include post ICU trauma patients, complex plastic reconstructive surgeries, complex ENT patients, traumatic complex fractures and musculoskeletal wounds, elective joint replacements, sports injuries, spinal deformities, complicated pelvic, hip, and compression fractures, skeletal malformations and abnormalities, amputations and prosthesis, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Medical/Surgical patients including those requiring Telemetry.

Requirements

• Graduated from an Accredited Program.
• Specialized field of study should be nursing.
• RN license.
• Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for post ICU trauma patients (serious traumatic injury to 2 or more body systems).
• Provide care for patients undergoing complex plastic reconstructive surgeries (including reconstructive flaps and graft sites, post cancer reconstruction, and trauma related reconstruction).
• Provide care for complex ENT patients including free muscle flaps and neck dissections.
• Provide care for complex ENT reconstructive tracheostomies and laryngectomies.
• Provide care for traumatic complex fractures and musculoskeletal wounds.
• Provide care for patients in the Elective Joint Replacements – Rapid Recovery Program.
• Provide care for patients with Sports Injuries.
• Provide care for patients with Spinal Deformities.
• Provide care for patients with Complicated Pelvic, Hip, and compression Fractures.
• Provide care for patients with Skeletal Malformations and Abnormalities.
• Provide care for patients with Amputations and Prosthesis.
• Provide care for Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, and General Surgery patients.
• Provide care for Medical/Surgical patients including those requiring Telemetry.
