About The Position

The Registered Nurse manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process and principles of primary nursing, in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The role provides care to children and families in a hematology/oncology setting, collaborates with families, and contributes to a safe and effective care environment. The position reports to the Practice Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing.
Nursing licensure for the State of Tennessee.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Demonstrated clinical abilities.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect comprehensive data about patients’ healthcare needs, formulate nursing diagnoses based on assessment data, and document findings concisely and promptly.
Develop and follow plans of care that prescribe interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
Identify expected outcomes individualized to each child, family, and situation.
Implement and coordinate care while promoting health and a safe environment.
Evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
Collaborate with families in the conduct of nursing practice.
Make decisions and take actions on behalf of patients and families in an ethical manner.
Integrate research findings into practice and, where appropriate, participate in generating new knowledge in innovative ways.
Contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
Serve as a leader in the practice setting and profession.
Acquire and maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing practice.
Consider safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice when planning and delivering care.
