This specific role is for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiology Outpatient Practice, focusing on the Valve and Structural Heart Disease Clinics. The position involves both face-to-face and non-face-to-face patient interactions. The RN is accountable for nursing care, including pre-visit preparation, direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. Collaboration with providers and other care team members is crucial. The RN functions within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice guide the RN's practice. Leadership is provided through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. Patient care delegation is based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. The RN must possess excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills, and may participate in committees or projects. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification upon successful sponsorship.

Requirements

Graduate of a nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
One year of RN experience required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
1 year RN experience required.
Current direct patient care experience required.
BSN preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience working in a team environment.
Computer skills required.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Cardiac experience preferred.
