About The Position

The registered professional nurse uses nursing skills to carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The nurse is responsible for quality communication, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism. The role also directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality and safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. A Registered Nurse I (RN I) provides care to the assigned patient population and completes annual mandatory and unit-specific competencies. The RN I also fulfills Professional Practice Ladder requirements, including assuming Charge Nurse responsibility; participating in PI activities and department initiatives; sharing information with the Director/Designee and coworkers from unit or hospital committees, paid education or professional events, workshops, or nursing articles; and maintaining an annual portfolio submitted by March 1. The nurse routinely seeks and validates patient and family satisfaction, participates in unit peer review, and develops educational bulletin-board or poster materials for staff, patients, or family members.
