About The Position

Indiana University Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg/Behavioral Health unit at IU Methodist. Nurses hired into Behavioral Health Services are cross-trained to work across B8, C8, Secured Holding, and ECT. B8 is a 20-bed secured medical-surgical unit for patients with primary medical and secondary psychiatric diagnoses, including alcohol withdrawal, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, altered mental status, and other mental health issues. C8 is a 16-bed locked psychiatric unit serving patients with primary psychiatric diagnoses, including schizophrenia, suicidal or homicidal ideation, and psychosis. Secured Holding is a five-bed emergency psychiatric unit where patients presenting to the emergency department with mental health issues are assessed and placed at an appropriate level of care. ECT provides electroconvulsive therapy, primarily for depression and catatonia, to 18–24 patients three days per week. The role provides opportunities to develop de-escalation skills, earn CPI certification, build a broad range of medical skills, manage time in a fast-paced environment, and practice across both medically and behaviorally licensed areas. The unit highlights a supportive leadership and team environment, learning and professional development, and strong physician/RN relationships. This position is referral eligible and currently qualifies for a new hourly location differential, in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials.
