About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 3, a Medical Surgical Unit. This is a full-time day shift position (12 hours) in Charlottesville, VA. Cornell 3 is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit focused on gastrointestinal care, addressing conditions like gallbladder diseases, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and procedures such as colon resections and ostomy creation. The unit also cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 for personalized care. It is an ideal environment for both experienced nurses and new graduates seeking skill development. Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• None required (for experience)

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
• Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
• 1 year of acute care (preferred)
• Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
• The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
