About The Position

Competent clinical practitioner assisting individuals, groups and families with health-care needs ranging from uncomplicated to complex and rapidly changing status. Demonstrates a caring approach which reflects and incorporates expertise.

Requirements

  • 2 yrs exp in Acute Psych or Comm. Mental Health nursing or a combo of the two.
  • Exp in the last 5 years in psychiatric assessment & intervention required.
  • Exp in the last 5 yrs with acute and chronic psychiatric disorders.
  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) is acceptable.
  • Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable.
  • Nursing diploma is acceptable.
  • Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable.
  • Basic CPR, ASSIST preferred.
  • Advanced - Planning skills.
  • Advanced - Assessment skills.
  • Advanced - Organizational skills.
  • Advanced - Interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of human growth, development and human behavior.
  • Knowledge in mental health and mental illness across life cycle.
  • Knowledge in mental health/illness in various settings (acute and community).
  • Knowledge in applicable health promotion and health prevention initiatives.
  • Knowledge in mental health assessment systems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology and the family life cycle and systems theory.
  • Knowledge of local human service organizations, resources & referral procedures.
  • Knowledge in mental health/mental illness impact on client, family and community.
  • Knowledge in client psychosocial living needs and interventions.
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
  • Registered/eligible with College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of SK - CRPNS.
  • Must upload all relevant documents (ex: certificates, diplomas, proof of enrollment, licenses and/or memberships) relating to the qualifications of the position.
  • Must bring a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) to the interview; it must be dated within six (6) months and include a vulnerable sector search.
