About The Position

Pediatric Registered Nurse providing nursing care to medically fragile children with complex needs, including tracheostomies, ventilators, and G-tubes. The role is based at Pediatric Specialty Care at Hopewell in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Nurses work three 12-hour day shifts per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., plus every third weekend, and receive more than three weeks of paid, hands-on pediatric orientation before working independently. Respiratory therapists, providers, and therapists are available in the building each day. Nurses may develop into charge, education, and leadership roles. Pediatric experience is not required; training is provided, and strong adult-care skills may transfer to the role.

Requirements

Current Pennsylvania RN license, or a multistate compact RN license valid in Pennsylvania, in good standing.
Current BLS/CPR and First Aid.
Meets Child Care Supervisor qualifications under 55 Pa. Code Chapter 3800.
Calm under pressure, skilled in assessment, and effective with families.
Able to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Ohio and West Virginia nurses must have a Pennsylvania RN license or a multistate compact license valid in Pennsylvania before the start date.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric, tracheostomy/ventilator, or long-term care experience; experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Assess medically complex children and act quickly when subtle changes in their condition occur.
Manage tracheostomy, ventilator, and G-tube care in coordination with respiratory therapists and the care team.
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
Coordinate care with providers, therapists, and families.
Guide and support LPNs and nurse technicians during the shift.
Document clearly and follow each child's care plan.
