Registered Nurse-Hourly

AMSURGOcean Springs, MS
Onsite

About The Position

As a registered nurse, you will manage the overall operating room environment and advocate for the patient while they are under anesthesia. Your responsibilities include reviewing the patient's medical history, verifying consent, and providing emotional support before the patient goes under anesthesia. You will open sterile packaging and pass medications, sutures, and additional equipment to the scrub nurse or surgeon without crossing into the sterile field. You will also record every detail of the operation in the patient's chart, including team members present, times of procedures, and amounts of medications or anesthetics administered. A critical part of your role is to oversee the strict counting of surgical sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after the procedure to prevent any items from being left inside the patient. You will collect, label, and properly document any tissue or fluid samples before transferring them to the laboratory for analysis. Finally, you will assist the anesthesia provider in stabilizing the patient and transferring them to the PACU.
