About The Position

The Pain Center Ambulatory nurse is responsible for the clinical nursing care of the patients undergoing invasive pain procedures such as epidural block, sacroiliac joint injection, Bier block, sympathetic block and trigger point injection; patients who are here for office visits or patients who are requiring interaction regarding a problem via the phone. This includes nursing assessment; pre-procedure patient preparation; administration of medication; assisting the pain specialist in the performance of procedures for the treatment of pain; post-procedure patient care; discharge education including medications; follow up with patient issues received by phone; input/review of new patient referrals; help patients understand medication policy, diagnostic testing and other information by phone; and insurance prior authorization for procedures, medications, and emergent diagnostic testing. Must demonstrate the necessary knowledge of complications associated with the many types of blocks and what in the patient’s history may increase the possibility of these complications.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing required.
  • A current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • One year’s previous nursing experience in a med-surgical health care environment required.
  • Registered Nurse must be organized, efficient in performing work/responsibilities and have precise documentation and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a highly stressful and fast paced environment.
  • Must have outstanding customer relation skills.
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must have uncorrectable hearing and visual impairments.
  • Able to lift and/or move patients.
  • Must be a team player who can work under direct supervision and in collaboration with others.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities
