About The Position

Shriners Children's St. Louis is seeking a PRN night-shift Registered Nurse for its Inpatient Unit. The RN provides direct nursing care to children with a range of orthopedic conditions, from mild to complex, including medical-surgical and ICU-level care. The role coordinates nursing care, patient and family education, and transitions of care, while supporting professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care. The RN also provides leadership as a formal or informal leader and preceptor, and participates in quality improvement efforts. This position works 12-hour shifts as needed.

Requirements

• BSN degree or currently in process of obtaining one.
• Missouri RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Skill in mentoring and teaching.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of bedside RN experience; new graduates will also be considered.
• Pediatric experience.
• ICU experience.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care.
• Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs.
• Provide leadership as a formal or informal leader and preceptor.
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts.
• Provide medical-surgical and ICU-level nursing care to children with orthopedic conditions.
