About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Perioperative Care department for OrthoSports Same Day Surgery at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. The role follows established healthcare organization policies, procedures, and protocols; implements and monitors patient care plans; and monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. The nurse coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and collaborates with the healthcare team to assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs. The position is full-time, working days Monday through Friday in three 12-hour shifts. Requirements

Hold a Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing before the hire date or job transfer date.
Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
Have required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
