About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Step Down unit uses critical-thinking skills to coordinate and provide safe, quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse also assists with organizing patient-care activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program.
• Registered Nurse license.
• BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association; required within 180 days for inexperienced RNs.
• Basic EKG certification.
• NIH Stroke certification; required within 60 days of hire or transfer effective date.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients’ physical, psychosocial, educational, and growth and development needs.
• Develops a written plan of care using assessment data.
• Implements the nursing care plan.
• Evaluates patients’ responses to interventions.
• Demonstrates leadership skills.
• Assists in organizing patient-care activities.
