About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a registered professional nurse who assesses, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services. Document and reassess any significant changes in the patient's condition in compliance with facility policy. Report any signs or symptoms of infection in patients to the Infection Control Nurse. Verify the accuracy of patient records. Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, and problem solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions. Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as the plan of care. Employ facility approved CPI techniques as necessary. Accurately and timely administer medication to patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Indiana State Board of Nursing as an RN.
  • Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.
  • CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior including restraint and seclusion policies, within 90 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
