About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Flexi/PRN RN for Med Surg in Suffolk, VA. For many of our Registered Nurse roles, we welcome new graduate applicants. The Medical-Surgical Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital is a great place to learn and grow, supported by a longstanding leadership team and strong preceptors dedicated to mentoring new nurses. With a 21-bed capacity, an RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 or 6, and PCTs assisting with an average of 10 or 11 patients, the unit offers a collaborative, supportive environment ideal for both new graduates and experienced nurses seeking to enhance their skillset. Unit coordinators are on staff, ensuring smooth operations and quality patient care. Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required (for experience)
  • 1 year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
  • Ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
