About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical position at Texas Health Frisco is a PRN Nights role, meaning hours are varied as needed, with weekend and holiday requirements. The Med Surg Unit is a fast-paced, high turnover department that cares for post-surgical, telemetry, and observation patients. The unit has an established Unit Based Council.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred)
• 1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse
• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support charge only 90 Days
• NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program if floating to Mother Baby 90 Days

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree Nursing Pref

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
